FERNANDO CARRASCO
Hong Kong Workshop
9 - 15 December 2026
Building Freedom, Precision & Presence in Movement
This three-part workshop series explores the foundations of efficient tango movement. Through focused individual work, Fernando will guide participants through posture, walking, pivots, turns, and embellishments, developing greater control, balance, precision, and elegance.
Designed for leaders who wish to deepen their understanding of body mechanics in tango, the series emphasises movement quality over memorised figures, with practical tools that can be applied directly to social dancing.
The Workshops
-
Explore body alignment, balance, functional posture, and connection to the floor. Develop coordination, dissociation, and efficient weight transfer through projection, transfer, and landing in the tango walk.
Objective: Develop a solid, natural, and elegant walk.
-
Understand the mechanics of pivots and the relationship between the torso, hips, and legs. Work on turns with different dynamics while improving balance, speed control, and precision in changes of direction.
Objective: Gain freedom, stability, and precision in circular movements.
-
Explore the mechanics of twists, pencil steps, and circular movements. Develop the independence of the free leg and learn to apply embellishments with greater elegance, precision, and control.
Objective: Develop aesthetic elements without losing the naturalness and functionality of the dance.
